HAWKS CIRCLE ITS copper DOME

in collaboration w/ Young and Ayata

new new york icon

“Hawks Circle its Copper Dome is an inverted homage to the Gould Memorial Library’s interior dome space, an anti-icon. The exterior is an attack on the idealism of the Hall of Fame for Great Americans; a bust as only limbs. The inside of the object is focused on the interior space of the dome, the ornamentation left in state on the surface of what is now a bowl; empty. The “support” structure encrusts and conceals the dome, knotted trunks of rotting detritus; all limbs, no torso, no head. Busted bust. Time to rot the icons out.”
